Rebuilding Together Day
On Saturday, April 26, 2008 Rebuilding Together Peninsula, Tyco Electronics and MHA brought volunteers, energy, and resources together at Villa Terrace, MHA’s permanent housing site for five residents in San Mateo. In one day, the backyard was transformed into a beautiful garden filled with fruit trees and the house was painted, inside and out. Following are pictures of this extraordinary event. The residents of Villa Terrace and the staff and board members of the Mental Health Association are extremely grateful to Rebuilding Together Peninsula, Tyco Electronics, and all of the wonderful volunteers for the incredible work that was done!

Renovation of Spring Street Shelter
The Spring Street Emergency Shelter renovation is almost complete. Thanks to the Department of Housing for the County of San Mateo and the State Department of Housing and Community Development, the community room has new windows, lighting, flooring and a heating and air conditioning system. The receptionist office is bright, cheerful and inviting. Skylights have been added which makes everything light and cheerful. The next phase of work will focus on the dormitories. When all of the work has been completed we will host an Open House to show off the beautiful new surroundings.

32nd Annual Friendship Center Holiday Party a Success
The MHA's Friendship Center Holiday Party was a smashing success. A picturesque view overlooking the water at Leo Ryan Park in Foster City and a sunny day made for a perfect holiday party. Guests were provided with a festive atmosphere that encouraged many to get up and dance or socialize with friends. Volunteers, staff, and MHA Board members were busy serving snacks, beverages, lunch and dessert to the 275 guests in attendance. As a special highlight to the day Santa and Mrs. Claus were in attendance and made certain that all guests received a wrapped present. MHA Board, staff and clients would like to extend their thanks to the community for the personal and financial support received that made this very special event possible. Click Here.
