Accessing San Mateo County Mental Health Services.

The Mental Health Services Division of San Mateo County provides a broad range of services to people with mental illness in the county. Priority populations include seriously mentally ill adults and children, older adults at risk of institutionalization, children in special education or at risk of out-of-home placement, and people of any age in major crisis.

The Mental Health Services Division is responsible for providing needed mental health services to all individuals who are eligible for Medi-Cal under a managed care plan called the Health Plan of San Mateo.

How to Access County Services
In order to access any services provided by the county, it is necessary to initially participate in a no-cost screening conducted through the Mental Health Access Team. The Access Team can be reached at 1-800-686-0101, and is available to provide information, referral and assessment.

Emergency Services
In case of a psychiatric emergency, contact the Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) department at San Mateo Medical Center. PES can be reached at 650-573-2662, and is located at 222 W. 39th Ave., San Mateo, CA 94403.
