Carlyle McClean
"My name is Carlyle McClean and I've been involved with the Mental Health Association for over four years. I started living in the Spring Street Shelter after I was in the hospital, and then I moved into the Transitional Housing Program for 18 months where I became more independent, and started paying rent. This program is a great step for people who have been homeless. Having long-term housing helps people take the first step toward a better life, toward achieving your goals, like I have. Having housing and working with the Mental Health Association staff has changed my life. I can set goals, keep my job, and meet new people. If I didn't have a place to live I couldn't have kept my job for over a year. I'm excited about the new Belmont Apartments. This program will have housing and staff to help people when they need it. I hope we can all support more housing like this and the people who need it." (September 2005)
