Friendship Center Volunteer
Job Description
A Friendship Center Program Volunteer, in cooperation with MHA staff and other volunteers, will organize and encourage Center members to participate in:
- Educational classes and activities
- Table games
- Arts and crafts activities
- Physical fitness activities
- Day trips to points of interest
Days and Hours Needed
Monday and Friday 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Tuesday - Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Qualifications
The MHA welcomes volunteers who:
- are 16 years of age or older
- enjoy working with people
- have a sense of humor
- have good listening and communication skills
- will commit to at least 2-4 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months
Training:
Attendance at an agency orientation is required before placement in a program. Additional ongoing training opportunities are available and may include:
- Site visits to mental health related programs
- Attendance at agency sponsored trainings
- Attendance at community conferences and activities
- Guest speakers addressing topics of interest related to mental health
Locations:
Friendship Center meetings are held in church halls and community rooms located near public transportation in the following cities:
- Daly City
- San Mateo
- Belmont
- San Carlos
- Redwood City
- East Palo Alto
