Mission

Our History

Mental Health Association of San Mateo County (MHA) was created over 60 years ago as a volunteer organization. Over the years, the scale and scope of our work has increased to cover a range of support services including case management, socialization opportunities and affordable housing for individuals with mental illness in San Mateo County.

Our Mission

Mental Health Association of San Mateo County is dedicated to improving and enriching the quality of life for individuals in our community who have a mental illness, HIV/AIDS or a co-occurring disorder by providing stable housing and supportive services.

MAX HARTMAN, MS, CRC

Treasurer

Max Hartman is the Dean of Counseling at Cañada College in Redwood City. He has an M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling from San Francisco State University and is a nationally certified rehabilitation counselor. Max is currently pursuing his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of California at Davis. Max has worked in community colleges for more than 10 years as a counselor and instructor, and before he became Dean he served as the Director of the Cañada College Disability Resource and Personal Counseling Centers. He lives in San Bruno with his wife Lauren and their dog Sonny.
